David Hume brings readers on a fictional adventure of nautical magic and riddles that mirrors Mediterranean landscapes and savory cuisine. Beyond the Long-Eared Mountains references ancient texts and not-so-ancient heroes, sailing through the pages of a great many works. Join Marna, a spirited girl who grew up by the river Spitte, and Eli, the youngest son of a cartographer, as they set sail on a voyage of discovery and realization. “A delightful excursion into an ethereal and magical landscape by use of names and landmarks that conjure up mystical scenes. The vivid descriptions of landscapes and watercourses bring us into a Narnian-like environment, with Lews-like breezes and currents. And we are far from being landlocked. Authentic details of ships and sails bring us in to 'a winking, blinking and Nod' world.”—Harry J.
